I grew up around fabric. My mother kept a sewing room that smelled of pressed cotton and strong tea, and my father could tell you the weight of a wool coat just by holding the sleeve. Clothes were never throwaway things in our house. They were made to last, chosen with care, and worn with a bit of pride.

I've carried that with me my whole life. Fashion, for me, has never been about chasing whatever the season says you should want. It's about how a woman feels when she puts something on — the cut that sits right, the fabric that holds its shape, the piece she reaches for again and again because it simply works.

That's what Elizabeth Ashby is. Every piece I bring to you is one I'd wear myself. If the quality isn't there, it doesn't make the collection — it really is that simple. I'd rather offer you fewer things done well than a rail full of clothes that fall apart after three washes.
